RESEARCH: THE ART OF THE TITLE- SE7EN (1995)

The title sequence starts with a close-up shot of a book, this creates a sense of mystery for the viewer as they don't know what's in it,next the shot changes to a high-angle shot looking down on the book. There are lots of different shots of objects close up, this intrigues the audience as they do not know what the objects mean.

The Mise-En-Scene conveys what to expect from the film and the overall tone, which is quite ominous. The lighting is very dark adding to the ominous tone and there are lots of shadows which could be someone lurking around. This is a very clever idea that would be very useful for my film opening as I am thinking of doing thriller/horror.

The first credit is the production company "New Line Cinema", they are first to convey there importance. The credits are shown as a messy flicker on the screen, the credits flickering makes the viewer think of a flickering light bulb about to run out of light.

The music used is mostly non-diegetic but some sounds are more naturalistic.  For example, sometimes a very high pitched noise occurs which makes the audience think it is someone screaming, which creates tension as it is an unsettling sound. Also as the music is fast pace it emphasises the genre which is thriller.

FILMING OUR PRELIM

We filmed our prelim in our lesson on Tuesday. My group was Bea, Ryan, Xander and Ollie. At the beginning of filming we round it hard to get the camera shots right as we it was our first time shooting. We used a Grand room with large windows in hope to get good lighting. However when we looked back at the film it was different lighting from different angles, but we edited it to look the same when we were editing. As we got more comfy around shooting we were able to create more difficult shots such as shot reverse shots and zoom/focus shots.

RESEARCH: THE ART OF THE TITLE- THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2011)

RESEARCH: THE ART OF THE TITLE- LES BLEUS DE RAMVILLE (2012)

Les Blues De Ramville is a sport and action film. The genre is shown by the sports equipment and surrounding of the ice hockey rink.

The Production Companies where shown at the end of the title sequence, i think this was done as the audience focuses more on the title sequence than the credits. I might use that in my title sequence as it is a useful piece of editing.

The Mise-En-Scene is used very effectively such as hockey masks and pucks. This conveys what the film is about and the audience can see the importance that hockey will have. Also the music starts to increase as we see items like skates which emphasises the build up of the hockey match.

The editing in this title sequence is brilliant, there is the use of lots of different camera shots and angles such as pans and zooms. There is also slow motion is used when a player gets hit into the wall, this makes it more effective because it emphasises the impact of the player getting hit into the wall. The editing is something that is inspiring and i hope to reach a fragment of that level in my film opening.

In the title sequence the music is linked with the editing, this makes the audience more involved in the movie and makes it seem more real. I really like this edit and i will use it in my title sequence because i appreciate it when used in this title sequence.
